Just wondering if there is any difference in having the cones faced inward (to manifold) or having the baskets inside the manifold, and cones on the attic side. I have limited space to work with on the attic side (near roof line) so I'm hoping to install these baskets in.
My last one i had space on all four sides, so I just made it square with cones facing in.
right now my plan for this space, is to use a longer box, with two subs on the outside, and two on the top all baskets inside the manifold.
any recommendations appreciated! (4 fi ib18s)

Hi,
There's no audible difference between subs facing in or out.
IMO the FI drivers are still the best deal out there provided they're in the budget.

At small signal levels, there is no difference in sound cones facing in or out. At long excursions, if the Bl vs. X is not symmetrical about the rest point of the cone, there will be second harmonics generated at loud levels. A demonstration in youtube.com, www.youtube.com/watch?v=78s7CkKoN3Eshows David Clark measuring cone motion and output harmonics in my 4 Ficaraudio IB18 installation, shown in www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPoblqaqhHgI have two innies and two outies, which cancels second harmonic distortion. The DLC video measures very little 2nd harmonic output, like ~3%, even at very high output levels and very low frequencies. The only thing is managing wire routing ...
