TrueRTA This is absolutely the easiest way to look at the performance of a speaker. The 1/6th octave version or higher is recommended
ETF 5.0 This is a more sophisticated measuring tool. It has gating functions. Those allow more accurate measurements and can effectively eliminate the effects of the room.
Another option is to buy the Behringer DEQ2496 and ECM8000. This all-in-one system doesn't require a PC, and provides SPL measurements, a Real-Time-Analyzer (RTA) combined with both parametric and graphic equalizers. It's price is $200 more than buying the Behringer DSP1124P or FBQ2496. That additional $200 buys a ton of extras including an Auto-EQ function.
Unlike the various Feedback destroyers, the DEQ2496 was purpose built by Behringer to be a high quality full-range equalizer.
