I am thinking about upgrading my receiver to a new Marantz, and they have the Audyssey EQ. I think I spelled it right. Anyway, I've looked through all the posts that I could and found some info from last year and was hoping that one of you smart guys had any new data or someone has tried it with a BFD and IB. Or is it junk and should I go in a different direction? Room treatments are a divorcable offense, so I must electronically correct as best I can. If nobody has anything then when I get it I'll try it with and without the BFD and any other combo's I can think of and post back. Thanks in advance. You guys rock. Jeremy

Don't have a clue.
I doubt the one's built into receivers have enough processing power.
The $3K pro installs might do the job, but one should audition an install before committing to spending the big $$$$

I've heard the Audyssey work in a regular HT, and it did help out the balance and nulls with the sub and mains on hand, but it didn't have a BFD or extra equalization. It seemed to help a little less than adding room treatments, but room treatments are for me not an option in my living room. I'm not planning on a purchase solely on the auto EQ, I just wanted more info and opinions. I can't find anything on the Audyssey site or the Marantz or Denon sites about processing or frequencies sampled/corrected in the receiver versions. I guess I'll just have to wing it. Thanks, Thomas.

You'd need to use the Audyssey first and lock in it's EQ. Then EQ the bottom manually using a separate measurement system for the BFD, since the Audyssey can't control it.

How would I do this with a Velodyne SMS-1? You have to set crossover frequencies, phase and slope with the SMS-1. Wouldn't this undo what the Audyssey did?

I have not used it, but it seems you would be best off taking your sub eq out of the equation while running audyssey. Once audyssey is done setting up everything else hook up SMS-1 and run your own bass tests. You CAN override the crossover points in audyssey if you want to. Somehow I doubt audyssey is going to cope with the thunderous bass coming from most IBs.
