and are Atlas subs good in IB? Yup. I'm certainly enjoying mine. They're the least expensive XBL2 woofers I know of. The unique DVC configuration allows lots of wiring options and variable system Q. All this plus the bottomless suspension design make them ideal for an IB. I'm running 4 of these wired for "high Q" of 0.57 and the more I listen to them the more impressed I get. Very clean and powerful in my 6000+ cu ft room with only 250 watts driving the whole set. The Avalanches are awesome woofers too. But in this case it seems like a no-brainer. 4 Atlas 15's for $420 give you virtually the same displacement as 2 Ava 18's for $800.

The Atlas 15s are well suited to IBs with adjustable q via a second voice coil and a suspension that cannot be bottomed out. Claimed displacement on the Atlas 15 is about 10% more than the IB15 once cone area is taken into account. The Avalanche 18 is the burlyest IB driver made to date that Im aware of (under $3,000 anyhow). Lower distortion than the IB15 or Atlas 15, though I think the TC2+ drivers are lower still. A pair of these has displacement equal to ~5-6 15s. www.ascendantaudio.com/archive/Products.htm for specs. Le specs are often fictional, this is sadly the case with the Atlas (though its not bad). I can ship to Canada, though I suspect the fees would be completely outragous. The fees charged for some guy to sign an invoice are piracy. Where in Canada are you?

Maybe USPS isnt as bad as UPS about that. John's shipping from Wisconsin whereas Im in south Ohio so itd probably be more. Im considering hand delivery so my unemployed butt (hence the sale ) can visit my friend in Minneapolis.

Well with fedex and ups they charge crazy brokerage fees. While usps only charges taxes, which is better. You could ship them to me from Minneapolis, that would be alot closer to where I live, lol and you would still be able to see your friend .

Hey guys, I used USPS to have my Avalanche 18's delivered to Toronto. They were crated and shipped separately, each was 57lbs total. The shipping cost for non-priority ground was about $60 each and another $50 for GST+PST and the $5 brokerage fee (lowest around). They all arrived in a 1-2 week period.

Selling another set of 4 Atlas 15s. $420 + ship. Originally the 8 Atlases were planned to go as woofers into an open baffle stereo line array.
