Well since i no longer seem to be able to contact Jman about his original test thread i'm starting this one for requests and information on DVD's, CD's, music and any other material i can think of that i feel would be of interest to the rest of the Cult members.
I also don't mind if you want to send me any rare recordings or movie scenes that you would like analyzed, send me a PM and i'll send you contact information on where to send your disk.
if sending media or movies please make sure they are standard data format and if DVD material that you made make sure they are format DVD+ or DVD-.
Sometime i will try to post a complete walkthrough of how to setup and configure Speclabs as it is not user friendly and is rather complicated to use if your not into messing around with gadgets and gizmos.
Also there are several little problems and tricks to using onboard audio and DVD movies that complicate things with Speclabs that prohibit it from truely put in a disk and good to go, sorry it's just not that easy.
Anyway, please post your movie scene you want analyzed and i'll try to accomidate you as best i can, i can't really post everything being that i don't have everything but if i feel it is worth it i'll go get the darn movie ;D
Make sure to include all information about the movie if you can, such as ID number, if it is special edition or not, chapter and play time.
Lets raise the roof! Carvernut

Transformers: The somersaulting robot scene is the one everybody talks about. I don't have it so can't put it through SpectrumLab.

Try to find the scene where the robot somersaults over the girl. It is the LFE highlight of the film.
Would it be better to limit your graphs to 100Hz?
There are no bragging rights to anything over 100Hz.
A log scale like REW would be good too if you can manage it. As it better displays the infrasonics where the real interest lies.
I like the first occurance of the dragon's flapping wings in LOTR. I think it's on Two Towers but I'm not really sure.

I think it's on Two Towers but I'm not really sure. i'll search the HT forums and see if i can find someone talking about it... oh yes... i forgot about that, i havn't watched The Two Towers yet on the IB, but i know exactly the scene your talking about with the Nazgûl mounts over the ruins of Osgiliath. I will certianly add that one to this... i can't belive i forgot that scene

didn't get much done on graphs today, had to go setup a PA system for a local church then went ice skating for most of the night. Stopped by wallmart on the way home and picked up, I am Legend... and War of the Worlds, trust me i wouldn't own WOTW if it wasn't for the bass... i can't stand that little girl screaming the entire movie anyway... i'm going to watch I am Legend tomarrow and let you all know what i find. Ciao

A logarithmic graph scale stretches out the lowest frequencies making them more visible where the real interest lies in the infrasonics. (just like REW does)

i don't think i do that with Speclabs... plus your wanting a waterfall to see the a activity of sound over a timeframe... a log graph will only cover a split second of a scene...
i would think the waterfall is of more use than the log scale... plus if you look at the top of each chart it shows a log scale up there.
also I am Legend was a really good movie, it is simple and darn good action movie, and a very good performance by my fave actor Will Smith, no real bass to speak of but a darn good movie.

W.O.T.W pod emerging scene chapter 5.............be careful how hard you go with this one i went and picked up WOTW's last night and watched it for the first time on the IB... WOWnow that is some MEGA low and intensive bass... it makes your whole house tremble and shake and feels like the ground could very easily open up and devour the house in one gulp. very tight and controlled even on these monster lows, you could feel every creak, crack and shuddering gurgle of earth as the pod emerges... WOTW is a horrid movie... but i'd buy/recomend it to anyone who's serious about low bass as a #2 recomended bass scene. the movie sux, the sound does not
