ThomasW, have you had a chance to test the eq.2 from eD yet? Kinda curious to see how it stacks up. I though I had read somewhere else that you had one ordered and I'm seeing that they are shipping now. Thanks.

i am impressed, heavy pcb board, lots of room and orderly layout, best of all.. solid inputs and output rca's, thats rare to find even in higher end componants, this thing could easily be adapted for a rack mount plate i would think
... weird power input plug though

Commentary: All in all for $100 this is a pretty good unit. The frequency response is flat +-0.5dB, the filters do what they say they will, S/N ratio is quite good, and the price is right!
If you look at the input voltage versus the output voltage, it appears to be limited in output. The unit never puts out more than 2.5 volts. The worst part of it is that the THD rises exponentially higher when the output voltage gets past 2 volts. I believe this could be solved with some changes in the output circuit and the choice of IC's. Maybe in version II. I would definitely worry about higher voltage output units/processors/preamps overloading this piece of equipment!
Other than the low output voltage and the associated distortion, I would also like to see a balanced XLR output and reduce the height of the unit to a rack standard 1 3/4". The unit is currently 2 1/4 " tall. Then they could offer accessory rack mount kits for it to satisfy users with 19 inch racks.
Since Thomas is not making any noises about getting this back from me very quickly, I am going to see if I can mod it to use a balanced output device for some more gain in the output. I am also going to look into the power supply to see why it gets overdriven so quickly. The unit uses RC4558 IC's which are not at the top of the op amp hill, but should be adequate. More on this after the long weekend.

I think the upgrade was shelved since neither Chas nor I had any use for the device.
