Somehow we have managed to avoid watching our copy of "Resident Evil: Apocalypse"
With no new, decent rental films on the shelves we thought we'd give it a run last night. I didn't check listening levels but the dialogue was suitably loud for an action film and the IB set at +6dB over the speakers. All as usual when we're watching films.
What a blast! The sound effects on this DVD are superb from beginning to end.
There are some wonderful, totally silent, short pulses throughout the film. Amazing! I haven't noticed this completely silent LF effect on any other film until now. Usually such infrasonic effects underpin a clearly audible explosion or impact and you don't really notice the pulse in isolation.
The speed of reaction of my IB is absolutely stunning. So fast it has literally hurt my feet on short, hard, film effects impacts! This can only be achieved with an incredibly violent, acoustic pressure pulse from the drivers because my manifold isn't even in the floor. I think it is very unlikely to be a direct mechanical conduction effect from the manifold. The opposed drivers and local construction details suggest otherwise.
