I've decided to go for an IB but I'm trying to do it on a smaller budget than is ideal. So if anyone has 4 AE IB15s, 4 FI IB15s or 2 FI IB18s for sale let me know. I'd prefer the 2 ohm FIs 18s and 4 ohm FI IB15s but would consider any variety ;D

People should know these are the older poly cone models that didn't meet the published T/S parameters. That said the price is attractive

the picture at that url look an awful lot like the ones I have. And I bought them several years ago. they have seemed to work fine in the line array I built.
Now I just bought a set of four from htnut and plan to build four dual manifolds for my next theater build.
Am I going to have trouble mixing these older ae15s with the new ones I just ordered from htnut?

Thanks - I had no idea they didn't meet the T/S parameters. They sounded great in my system. I mentioned directly in my post that they are a few years old.
"I have 4 AE IB15s for sale they are the 4 ohm version. They are a few years old but are in perfect condition. They were used in my home theater for about a year then I moved to Florida and have no room for an IB."

Nothing wrong with them.
The actual Fs (32Hz) is higher than what was listed on the AE website. Some people got upset about this.
The new ones just play lower with less power and EQ

thanks for the reply. I was afraid they were defective in some way.
I think I will make the front and rear manifolds from the new ae15s I bought from htnut and build the side manifolds from the older drivers.

I used a set of 4 of the 32Hz AE IB15 poly cone drivers in my vertical array and then later in the manifold. Eventually they worked fine with a load of BFD boost at 20hz @ 2 octaves filter width. I used +16dB! Sensitivity was lower than the later paper cone drivers and they died too early (in Hz) without serious boost. I have a feeling that they'd work fine for some serious upper bass boost in my system to augment the present IB. Here's the difference between the poly cone and paper cone frequency responses in my room without EQ.

Bumping this up as I've finally gotten to the point where I'm buying speakers for my IB.
I am looking for 4 AE IB15s, 2 FI IB18s or 4 DPL-15s primarily but would consider other speakers that are in good shape.

I don’t know if you saw my post from this weekend, but I have 4 Mach5 Audio MJ18’s that I’m looking to sell. Let me know if you’re interested!
