I was in no way saying the Quatro is capable of what the Fi 18s are, only that the Quatro did a good job and currently sounded cleaner, but I surely have something else affecting my Fi 18, placement, electronics issue???
I don't really turn the bass up loud enough for it get the room shaking, and my room is built very solid.... floating floor, sound retartant walls etc., and I have a pretty good ear, so i'm sure i'm not mistaking rattles for distortion.

I am no expert in acoustics, but that has never stopped me sticking my foot in my mouth before From what I have read of your issue, I would not put your problems down to manifold placement. Whilst you may well have room related issues, as we all do to some extent, I don't think these usually manifest as distortion, rather as peaks and troughs in SPL at different frequencies. I would be trying the old substitution test with each component in your IB chain to see if it is equipment related. Have you been in your attic space while the IB is going to see what is audible up there? If distortion is happening in there, then it can't be room related. Hope you get it sorted soon Cheers, Jim.

After you've had a listen "upstairs" try muting your speakers and listening to the IB alone in your HT room. I can't believe how many rattles are masked by my speakers. Playing a bassy CD like Bass Outlaws loudly will find every resonance in your furniture and fittings. Buzzes and rattles are often difficult to locate until you mute the speakers. Test tones won't find the problems unless you are lucky and hit them spot on the correct frequency. I wound my IB up to 120dB(C)Slow on my Galaxy 140 using the Illegal Bass CD yesterday. The buzz coming from my enclosure door was unbelievable! So were the physical effects standing right beside the manifold! I didn't see any noticeable cone excursion though.

This weekend I dove into my EQ rack... I installed an Emotiva XPA-3 to drive my Rocket 850s and Bigfoot, all I can say is WOW..Great amp! I also replaced all of my speaker wires from the reciever and amp to the 7.1 wall plate with 14g in-wall and really cleaned it up. I then moved to the sub, retested with a battery to test wiring...all good! Then I noticed something.... I power my EP1500 sub amp with a dedicated circuit plugged into an outlet in the attic, I had run the power cable along side my 12g speaker wires feeding the Ib for about 3-4 feet as the cables dropped down behind the EQ rack.
How I missed this is beyond me, I wired my whole theater paying close attention to avoid this, I guess when I built the IB (after the theater) I was in a hurry and got sloppy. The 60hz in the electrical line must have been inducing noise that was really muddiying the IB, yet wasn't noticable when the IB wasn't hittin!
It sounds much better, I watched War of the Worlds and didn't have any problems other than the pressure the thing produces can cause fatigue. My ported designs never caused this.. Im guessing it's due to the fact they were moving the same air back and forth through a port vs. pressurizing the air in my room which is sealed fairly tight with the door shut. I guess now I'm in testing mode, the DIY bug is still in my head but I'll see how this IB grows on me.
