Hello everyone. I'm new to this board but I've been around the block a few times and have installed several architectural IB systems for clients. I have a question.
I have recently inherited a house in the Phoenix AZ area, and the living room ceiling cries out for an IB. My question concerns protecting the drivers from the extreme heat of the Arizona summer. I imagine it can get over 150F in the attic for weeks on end.
Any tips for this sort of application, or is it something I need to worry about at all?
Thanks! David

Welcome David.
It should not be too much of a problem. I have two manifolds in my attic in Florida and have had no troubles. If you want a little piece of mind, you could install a radiant heat barrier to the bottoms of your trusses and that should help keep the temperatures down some.

Hi David,
Most of the drivers we use are built to standards for car audio so they can tolerate temperature extremes.
If you reverse mount them (magnets in the manifold) the bulk of the metal will be about the same temp as the ceiling of the room below.

Thank you for the swift replies gentlemen. And DOH! i forgot about reverse mounting...
We will probably move to the Valley of the Sun in the spring, and I will be sure to document the IB build here. Thanks again!

I had one for ~4 years in my last house with no issues. Drivers were mostly on the attic/hot side.
