First off, Thomas, I have been keeping all of my posts in my build thread as you have requested multiple times that we do here. However, it seems that some of my questions are generic enough that it may be more effecient for up-and-coming IB owners to find answers to their questions in other more specific areas of the site. If I am off base, let me know.
My question is simple: Are XLR cables the same as what I see listed sometimes as microphone cables? Are the ends of mike cables the same as will work with a BFD or amp?

I build some of my interconnects using Canare Quad-star mic wire

How about the ends? "Mike" ends work with the BFD and EP4000?

Most pro audio gear uses XLR connectors because they lock in place and aren't easily pulled out
Be aware that XLRs have male and female ends. What gets plugged in where depends on if it's an input or an output

Be aware that there are also locking and non-locking types of both male and female XLR plug. All XLR sockets are probably set up for locking. The plugs fit the sockets whether they are locking or not. As Thomas says, it is handy to have locking plugs to stop them falling out under the sheer weight of the "knitting" behind the rack. Particularly if you are fastidious in rolling up spare lengths of cable and keeping them neat them with zip ties.

Thanks for the response, guys. I'll be ordering cabling tonight hopefully. My amp and subs came today, and I am not ready to install them yet! By the way, Chris, I take offense at being called "fastidious". Meticulous, yes. Demanding, yes. Maybe even anal-retentive. But definitely not fastidious. ;D

We're not picky as long as we have pictures. ;D
