Does that mean that “slam” can’t be achieved with an IB. Or with just 4 drivers. I am running 2 18” FICARs in a 14’x19’ room. Though I love the smooth bass, I recently put a dual 10” sub, and that did add a lot of slam.

No what it means is that 'slam' is typically obtained from drivers operating in a passband higher than where IB's operate. If you want 'slam' from an IB raise the upper Xover point in the IB passband. Doing this may cause smearing of the stereo image depending on the location of the IB
