Again how does the location test? Read the FAQ's If the drivers are mounted horizontally there's one on top and an other on the bottom. There are no drivers on left or right sides with horizontal mounting. Studs can be moved

The first quote in your reply was your own quote from earlier.
When you mentioned horizontal mounting, I thought you meant, have both drivers in line horizontally, my bad. I didn't realize you meant to have the face of the subwoofer mounted horizontally. And as far as mounting them horizontally goes, how to I attach a 19"-20" wide manifold to 16" OC studs? Modify the studs? If so, that leaves one woofer magnet about 2'-2.5' from the ceiling in the closet, is it much better this way or would it be ok for the magnet of the driver to be 1' from the side wall as if I were to place the drivers vertically? I'm just thinking this for ease of install.
My studs cannot be changed, too beefed up for the initial IB build, plus I have OSB plywood glued/screwed against 95% of those studs.

I would fix the front IB first, turn off the MFW's too. Does your room have bass traps?

Well, I wish I knew what was wrong with them, and if there even is anything wrong with them.
I only have two rear 36" faced superchunk bass traps, just about floor to ceiling, they didn't do too much to my overall bass response in the room and I don't have much room for more.

When you mentioned horizontal mounting, I thought you meant, have both drivers in line horizontally, my bad. I didn't realize you meant to have the face of the subwoofer mounted horizontally. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that found recommendations to install horizontally or vertically confusing. I'm sure that which way your mind assumes it to mean depends on your background. For me, when somebody says to mount the driver vertically, I assume that means its axis should be vertical. That's the primary datum for round objects like audio drivers, right? Wrong! Apparently in the audio world, they're referring to the plane in which the surround resides. It still seems backwards to me. But most likely my way of thinking seems just as backwards to someone that's always worked with speakers. I do think there's an opportunity for improved clarity in the FAQ, since there are at least 2 ways (yours and mine) to misinterpret the true intent.

Seems simple to me.
In this scenario, one's referring to either one, or multiple drivers.
When discussing one driver, vertical or horizontal refers to the driver orientation, or direction. When discussing multiples, it's placement relative to one another.
Simple enough.
edit; one could misunderstand

This thread is about 2 years old. Curious if digitalchris ever got things sorted out?

He has a 5 page build thread here he posted on until 2/13
After that he stopped posting

I finally read through his whole build thread and I'm left wondering if maybe the array wasn't sealed well enough. Possible air leakage or something? Those 4x18"s should have been crazy in that smallish looking room.

Hard to say.
Thing is none of his measurements appear to be accurate.
No correctly done nearfield measurement (1.5") from dust cap would look like plot he posted.
