Hi All-
A few years back (early 2013) I successfully went down the path of IB. I utilized 4 18" FiCar drivers and ever since tuning, the system has worked flawlessly.
Here is a link to that thread Scuba's 4 Fi-Car 18" IB
I'm in the initial development stages of a new house construction. As a part of this development, I need to earmark locations in the basement for the mechanicals, sump pump, electric panel, wetbar rough-ins, ect.
While I don't have my theater, and thus my IB, designed for this new home, I would like to have a loose idea about the direction I think I'll be headed.
In the below image, you can see the early concept. Basically, after having my existing installation, I know I definitely want the manifold(s) to be in the front of the room. My primary question is that if I create this front of the room cavity, that is open to the area adjacent to the theater, would there be any major concerns or showstoppers. I'm not concerned about the amount of volume, but rather than the area around the manifolds themselves are relatively closed in at say a 36" depth. (My current manifolds are 25" deep). The 30" space show in the image is for a "false wall" with an acoustically transparent screen.
I don't yet know if I'll be keeping my existing 4 18s. Hopefully I find a buyer for my current home that wants to keep the theater. Otherwise, they will be coming with me to be utilized in the new place. I would anticipate that my new "build/project" thread would start hopefully around a year from now..
