Hey Thomas and company...I've been pondering the IB thing for a few years now. When I posted at the old forum, I was told the Aragon 8008BB amp would be great for an IB setup.
Well the stars have aligned and I'm ready to go for it. I already have the above-mentioned amp, along with the Behringer FBD, for the project. I getting a budget together so was wondering how much/many drivers this thing would push.
Room is 14 x 23 x 8, with multiple openings. It will be an attic mounted IB for Ht mainly.
This is probably the a$$ backward way of designing the sub, but I need to know if a different amp will also have to be added into the budget.
Thank, John

How many watts per channel into 4 and 8 ohms? Bridged? You should be good with 400wpc I'd think...at least thats what I was going by when I bought my amp. I'm currently running two 15" drivers with 260wpc into 8 ohms stereo and I could use a little more oomph. I'll be running 4 soon enough with more than 400wpc which should be plenty.

As nice an amp as that is, I'd use it on the L/R channels and look for something else to run the subs. Seems like such a waste to relegate it to sub-only duty. But that's just me. It's rated at 200watts/ch into 8 ohms, 400 into 4. Most people believe it's under-rated. Helluva nice amp. Two pair of 8 ohm subs paralleled on each channel would work well. Mike

I was using it to drive a pair of maggie MMGs, and using a Rotel receiver to drive a Paradigm HT setup (in the same room). I've upgraded from Studio 20s to 60s, so the maggies had to go into storage (TEMPORALILY! ) I’d like to later upgrade to MG12s or 1.6s, and use the Aragon for that. But for right now, looking to set something up with what I have.

I have 8 Aragon 8008's, they're great amps. No they can't be bridged. They're wonderful for driving ESL's and other planars. I use mine for my Acoustats and my Maggies... They're so stable they'll drive anything excepting dead short. As stated it is a bit of a waste to use one on an IB, but I do.....

So I can go with 4 - 8 ohm drivers, two per channel which will be a 4-ohm load on each side of the Aragon?
I may do the "two now, two more later" route, as I tend to prefer to nickel and dime my audio upgrades, instead of laying out the proper funds all at once.
Are there any other driver parameters I need to know that will effect (or be effected) by using this amp?

Correct if they wired in parallel pairs
I'm not sure what this question means. No driver parameter is ever effected by the amplifier

OK , that's fine. As per the FAQs, I assume most folks size their drivers to their room first, then pick out the amp needed. So I will go from there and see where I end up power wise.
I'm giving myself 2-3 months to get this project together ($$$ wise), plenty of time for research and lots of Qs.
Thanks John
