My city is too small to have much for selection in pro amps. Also doesn't help that being in Canada all the good Ebay deals either don't ship to Canada or will only ship to Canada via UPS Ground, which incurrs insane brokerage fees making them no longer good deals.
This amp will be hidden, so B-Stock blemished items are a definite option.
Anybody have access to a Behringer EP1500 or something similar at a good price who would be willing to act as a no margin middle man for me? Best I think I can do off Ebay will be around $375CDN (~$320USD) after all is said and done.
Starting construction on my theater in my new house shortly and am planning an IB with a pair of FiCarAudio SSD18 drivers. FiCarAudio is awesome to deal with as a Canadian by the way. Very reasonable shipping and willing to us USPS so I don't get hosed on brokerage.

Just phoned them. They won't be in the sale this weekend and they want $480CDN plus tax for the EP1500 and $560 for the EP2500.

The Carvin HD 1800 (1800 watts bridged 4 ohm). Shipping to Hawaii was very reasonable. At $329 quiet and powerful. Carvin.com (http://www.carvin.com/products/dcmseries.php)

Interesting. They are quoting me $420USD cost to my door. I'm assuming they are using UPS Expedited at a cost of $90USD. So roughly $500CAD.
Just don't think I'll be able to beat the Musician's Friend refurb units if I can find someone to drop ship one to me. Although I think I'm taking the wrong approach by blanket asking on the forum. I should just PM someone from one of the boards I'd trust directly.

I got mine for like 405 from them. They also have used stuff as well there, and can get it from any of their stores accross the country. I was thinking of stopping by there this weekend and trying to trade my 1500 for a 2500.
If you dont mind me asking, what did those 18s cost you to your door?

Haven't ordered them yet. Probably will next week. Scott has been great to deal with. He quoted me $14USD for a SSD18 and $18USD for a Q18 for shipping per driver. That was UPS Ground though. Asked about USPS and he seemed to think that would be only marginally more and had no problem using them. So I'm guessing $20USD per SSD18 for shipping. So $520USD for a pair. So I'm expecting it to be under $650CAD to my door.

I know you want to save some money..but you rather get the ep2500,if you decide to add more drivers in the future...
Be careful when buying used pro amps...

Thanks canaris, I'd pretty much essentially came to the same conclusion. With 2 drivers the ep1500 would be lots, if I decide to later go to 4 I'll regret not spending the extra $50 on the EP2500.
I'm not a big fan of used either, especially on pro gear. I'm not to worried about these refurb units though. They've been brought back to factory spec by Behringer and have a full 1 year warranty. This of course assumes Musician's Friend doesn't continually slip their arrival date on the refurb units.

Well found someone to order for me from the States. Getting the Musician's Friend refurbed EP2500 for $225USD since they are part of the 10% off President's Day sale they are having. So hopefully I'll get it up here for ~$360CAD.

Not impressed with Long & McQuade though. As I phoned and specifically asked about these two amps and thier 8th-9th sale and was told they won't be on sale. But I'm not that distraught as there is still 11% tax to add to that $400 price you were quoted titch.

Well the way I see it, is I would pay alittle more locally then something that is not. Its not that much more for a brand new in the box amp then what your paying for a used one, which can be taken back now questions asked if somethings wrong with it. Now if something goes wrong with that amp that your buying. Well it just wouldnt be as easy to return/replace. Thats the way I see it.
