I am new to the forum and I would appreciate your advice. I plan to build an IB sub with two 15" Tempest-X speakers in a manifold. The theater room is 17x25x8. I have an older 5 channel Carver model 28 amp that produces at least 125 watts a channel. Could I use the amp's for the sub with good results? Would I need to bridge it or just hook up one speaker per channel? Thanks

i couldn't find a source on this amp... you sure that is the model number?
and it depends on if the amp is capable of being bridged or not... but if it is then you would probabaly want to bridge it IF resistance sums allow you to.

The amp is a Carver AV-405. I confused it with a Carver preamp I have. Sorry. I assume a plate amp would be a better choice?

2x100 watts per channel 8 ohms into front, 1x110 watts per channel 8 ohms into center, 2x50 watts per channels 8 ohms into rear I'm not sure how you'd use this amp...... Plate amps in general don't get much respect here... If you can live with a fan cooled prosound amp those are low cost and have plenty of power.

Thanks for your help. How much power would you recommend for two 15' tempest-x speakers or maybe two 15" Soundsplinters? I have been reading through the forum and saw a lot about the Behringer 2500, but not the Prosound. Any recommendations on where to buy?

Prosound is a general term applied to amps used by stage musicians. The EP 2500 is one such prosound amp. Others would be QSC, Crown, Face Audio.... kadiddle
