Ok, thanks for going to the extra work to check that out... In the end it's all about how it sounds to you compared to the alternative (a box sub)

Thomas, thanks so much for your help. You have been invaluable in this process. And to think I was okay with it prior to the low filter switch being turned off. It is so much better now it's not even funny. Hmm... maybe an upgrade to the Ficaraudio 18's or the new Mach5Audio 18's is in the near future... Thanks again for all your help! Mike

I'd like to help out where I can since I was given so much help here. So I updated the driver comparison chart if you're interested: pages.sbcglobal.net/ginmtb/woofer_comparison_chart.htmI can add some more if you'd like. I just added the Ficaraudio and the TC Sounds woofers as I've seen those two in the forums. Oh and a couple of PE ones. I don't know how to calculate SD (cm^2) if that data isn't published. Thanks! Mike

There are a few other PE/Dayton drivers that may or may not be under consideration by folks. Special pricing on the RSS390HF-4 makes it $61.75/liter, which puts it in the Top 11. ;-) Driver SD (cm^2) Xmax (mm) QTS FS(Hz) Efficiency (dB) price Displacement (p-p liters) $/per liter Notes PE/DAYTON RSS315HF-4 HiFi 12" 491 14.0 0.44 24.7 89.3 129.80$ 1.3748 94.41$ 4+ Quantity price $122.60 PE/DAYTON RSS390HO-4 High Output 15" 804 12.0 0.37 21.0 90.5 159.80$ 1.9296 82.82$ Special price $139.00 PE/DAYTON RSS390HF-4 HiFi 15" 804 14.0 0.43 17.6 90.5 159.80$ 2.2512 70.98$ Special price $139.00 Thanks for your updated chart.

Let's keep special sale pricing off the charts. People will expect that price and be mad when the price turns out to be higher once the sale stops

Thanks for the link Thomas. Unfortunately it doesn't work.
I did update the list with the new Mach5Audio pricing and added a couple more.

Thanks for the link Thomas. Unfortunately it doesn't work. I did update the list with the new Mach5Audio pricing and added a couple more. Mike Mike, You listed Mach 5's Canadian prices...which are 13% higher than USD. Another thing that is tough to quantify is the higher than typical shipping rates for US customers. My 4 MJ-18's was very reasonable at $112, but I am in Montana; which is relatively close to Winnepeg. Mark has a list of shipping estimates on his site, and the range to ship to the US is $30-$50. Thanks for the heads up on that - I changed it to USD. Apparently he will have a supplier "south of 49" so shipping should be better in the future.
Hopefully people will know that shipping is more expensive due to them originating in Canada. There is so much variation though that it doesn't make sense to include that in the chart.

Hmm... the wave guide might be problematic since I had planned on mounting my amp and eq in the left opening - which will reduce the opening size by about 1/3. I can close the sides off though. In looking through the gallery, I've seen a couple of setups that hide the exit of the IB in an entertainment center and there isn't a wave guide. I'll see what I can do. What's to the left of the left hand opening? Can you put the equipment in there and use the 2 current openings for the IB? The room is big. Even if you can't buy the additional 18"s now, you need to plan for adding them in the future. I would highly recommend accommodations for four 18's, but start with two of the Ficaraudio.com Q18's, and if you need to get two more, you have the room. I originally started with two JBL 2245H 18's, but as soon as I got better main speakers, added two more 18's.

My new Q18's just arrived today!!! Woo hoo! These things are impressive to say the least. Ordered them 3/29, customized for IB, single 2 ohm VC, and on my door on 4/3. Oh yeah and throw a weekend in there too. Can't beat that kinda service. Thankfully they were nicely packed as the UPS guy wasn't super easy on them. Memo to self - if you see the UPS guy arrive, go help him carry boxes that may be more fragile. Don't watch him drop stuff. Can't wait to get them installed. Still only have room for two... Should be a significant improvement in displacement! From about 5L to 13L.

Congratulations on your new drivers! Just an idea but would listing each driver's VAS on the driver comparison charts be useful to anybody? I'm thinking about those with limited space behind the drivers. Listing VAS would give IB designers an easy calculation to see if they can get away with 2, 4, 8 or 16 potential drivers without falling below the dreaded Total VAS multiplier guidelines.

If I already had the VAS data I wouldn't need to ask you to enter it!
