"Hi"
I've been lurking here for several months and I'm hooked. I have a theater above a detached Garage that needs more bottom end. My only option for placement is in the ceiling. The room is 22 x 24 x 8 and virtually air tight. The roof has a steep pitch, so it's pretty low at the walls in the attic..... Using 4 18s for example, am I better off with two smaller manifolds (2 18s each) about 5 feet in front of the mains or a larger manifold (4 x18s) more towards the center of the room?
I have two 12" ported subs and have moved them to both locations and can't really tell if one location is preferable to the other? Any recommendations would be appreciated.
Thanks, Bob

Hi,
Is there adequate clearance for the manifold/manifolds?
The easiest way to check for placement is put an existing sub in the listening position. Then go to where the IB will be, and listen to the bass there.

I have a ton of clearance in the middle of the attic. It would be much easier to build there, I have moved my current subs around and they don't sound much different between the two locations. I would think 4 18s would blow me away anywhere I put them..........
I think I just answered my own question.
