I am new and considering the IB sub options I see here. I have a dedicated sound room (4000 cu.ft.) with a crawl space where the manifolds will be going.
Aside from the 2 main speakers in front, the floor is empty. My joists are 16" O.C.
1) I can put the manifold opening(s) behind, to the side, or in between the mains. Which is the best position?
2) I can build 1 large (4) driver manifold for the in between mains position, or 2 smaller (2) driver manifolds for the behind or to the side mains position. What is the better of the 2, 1 larger or 2 smaller manifolds, assuming equal volume in the manifolds for the 1 large and 2 smaller summed?
Any ideas on how to successfully build up the sides of my joists, which and the TJI I joists?
THanks, I will post a driver suggestion question in the driver area of the forum.

Hi...
One larger IB centered or two on axis adjacent the mains are both very good choices. So go with which is easier to install.
You'll just have to fabricate custom ends that close off the "I" joists. I'd add an additional layer of OSB/ply, whatever, to the side of each "I" joists to make them thicker.
It's preferred that builders start a single thread in the My Projects" section and ask all their question there. That way everyone reading knows what's been asked and answered.
Thanks Thomas

Be sure to read the room position part of the site. You want to be as close to the corner of the room for maximum room gain away from doors or openings into other rooms. I recommend staying away from multiple sub positions for an IB system unless you can use box type subs to mock up the positions to see if you get any cancellations at your listening position.
