I'm thinking about using 1 channel of my BFD to smooth the response of my center below 400 hz (nothing too serious). I know that the center is important for home theater & I've read many posts advising against using the BFD for mains (and I assume centers). What I have not read is the reason(s) behind this recommendation or the specific conditions under which the BFD should or should not be used. Any guidance the forum could provide would be appreciated.

The BFD wasn't build to be an equalizer, it was built to kill microphone squeal. As a result the internal components weren't chosen for good sound quality. That means it's OK for sub use but not the best choice for anything else.
Use a DEQ2496 if you want a high quality equalizer

Thanks Thomas - you saved me from buying cables & crawling behind my equipment rack for nothing.
