I just installed the room EQ software, so that I can begin testing of my room acoustics and hopefully start my IB installation soon. My question is: After reading about the software my understanding is that I need a sound card with left and right line inputs as well as outputs. Is this correct? I can only find ones that have one line input and one mic input. Can anyone recommend a good external (usb) sound card for under $50 that is compatible with this software? Thanks.

I need a sound card with left and right line inputs as well as outputs. Is this correct? I can only find ones that have one line input and one mic input. Most sound cards (built in as well as external) have stereo inputs and outputs... The plug that goes into the input of the computer, has to be a stereo 1/8" mini-plug which has two plastic rings at the tip. These separate Left and Right channels... To use a regular RCA, you can make your own adapter or buy a premade "Stereo RCA Female to Stereo1/8 Male mini plug audio cable" My local surplus electronics store has them for <2$cnd... and you'll need 2 of them. You need what's called a duplex sound card. This means it can record and playback at the same time. Search the usual computer suppliers like www.newegg.com

Can't tell from the text
I was not sure if I was just missing something or not
recommended in the FAQ
Where in the FAQ is this at, I couldn't seem to find it
the Creative Lab's Sound Blaster MP3+ USB(External) Sound card
Thanks, I was wondering about this one, too. But, it didn't say in the description that it had a line in or that it was full duplex. I will go with this one. Thanks for the help.

Where in the FAQ is this at, I couldn't seem to find it lol... i mixed up the FAQs , as you are correct in not seeing it here. I got it from the ETF's FAQ pages... there is some good info over there as well concerning room measurements.
