Hi I was able to view my curves from .txt files of test-tones when I first downloaded REW from the BFD website. But then nothing happened each time I tried to open a file. I'd get as far as the C-correction option but no curve would appear regardless of which option I chose. Thinking I had pressed a wrong button I deleted the older program and downloaded a newer version from HT Shack. But this won't show my .txt fies as curves either. No error notices..nothing. I tried renaming some files and taking various options like "sub" "left" "right" etc. but this made no difference. When I click on open after highlighting a file, the Y/No C-correction box appears. But then nothing happens when I choose either option. I must be doing something wrong. But what? I've searched your extensive help files here, done specific searches and followed links on AVS and elsewhere but found no reference to anyone being unable to import these .txt files. Thanks

First make sure you have the latest version of Java.
There are two formats for the files, one has the data separated by a space the other a comma so....
16 98 18 99 20 100
or
16,98 18,99 20,100
I can always get one of the formats to open.
The files can have any name as long as there's a .txt extension.
To remove the settings from an older version of the Wizard delete the following key in your registry
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JavaSoft\Prefs\room eq wizard then start REW

Thanks Thomas I removed the commas from one of my test .txt files and renumbered it but it made no difference. My computer is on auto update and I have just found several large Java update files in my programs list. The latest is J2SE Runtime environment 5.0 update 6. I'm afraid I have no experience of making changes to the registry. It has not been necessary until now. I might as well go over and break the ice at The Shack and spread the proof of my ignorance to an even wider audience. ;D

Thanks Thomas
I really appreciate your efforts to help me here...
But my "Run" button in "start" has vanished without my even noticing.
I never used it so it probably got bored and went off somewhere. ;D
EDIT: I got Run back again and followed your procedure.
It made no difference, unfortunately.
Regards Chrisbee

As you discovered, there's a reason I listed the example frequencies from lowest to highest.....

Thankyou Thomas As I explained in my reply at the HT Shack I always prefer to run my sub test tones from high to low. Just to avoid setting the level too high to start off with. A novice might screw the level right up just to be able to hear something. It is very tempting to do so if you start from 10Hz. Which is completely inaudible and doesn't register on the RS SPL meter. Not until you have at least 25dB above the minimum sensitivity just to make the needle move! So one has no reason to suppose that the poor sub driver may be silently crying its heart out. Well not until the ceiling falls down and finally puts it out of its agony.
