My laptop has a full duplex soundcard, and I can get measurements with REW... however looking at the soundcard cal file it seems like right below 20hz it takes a huge dive. I am wondering if anyone knows if the M-Audio MobilePre is a bit more accurate down in that range? Can anyone show me what the cal graph for one looks like?

Hey thanks for the reply... it made me wonder, though. My cal graph actually looks the same. I think what I was looking for was the soundcard measurement graph, the one you take when you plug the out into the in and measure. Mine looks like this, in the REW Online Help File it showed on that looked much flatter. Perhaps the -2 db at just under 20hz isn't that much off... but my data down below 15 is probably pretty weak (and who knows, perhaps the ECM8000 isn't that great down there anyway) Anyway I bet you just saved me $100 and my cal file--a little worse but maybe not so bad?

That should be fine. Room EQ generates and applies a correction factor anyway, so the loss in accuracy is minimal, granted that the SNR remains at an acceptable limit.

Start by making a nearfield measurement. Do this by placing the mic 1" in front of the dustcap of one of the speakers.
This tells you what the speaker is doing exclusive of room interaction.
