Hi all,
I have a Yamaha YSP-2500 soundbar and my plan is to drive my IB subwoofer using an amplifier fed by the supposedly 'line level' subwoofer output on the soundbar. The same line level output sends the signal to the Yamaha subwoofer that the soundbar came with, and I have an RCA Y-cable to split the signal so it can go to both at the same time.
What I've found is that I need to crank up the IB subwoofer amplifier gain to very high levels to hear anything at all, and it's still not very loud. To diagnose the problem I connected a Logitech Squeezebox RCA output to the IB subwoofer amplifier and it's plenty loud.
Is it simply that the voltage levels on the soundbar subwoofer output are very low? Do I need another amplifier (a pre-amplifier) in the signal path between the soundbar and the IB subwoofer amplifier? Assuming this is the case, does anyone have any suggestions for such a pre-amplifier?
Thanks.
Toby
P.S. My IB subwoofer consists of two FI Car Audio IB318 drivers and a Behringer NU6000DSP amplifier.

Hi Sounds like you need what's called a line level shifter or DI (direct inject box). Essentially a pre-amp that raises the output to something that the Inuke wants to see. Athough there are other cheaper units if I needed one of these I'd probably use this... www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/DI4000

ThomasW,
Thanks very much - this is just the information I was after.

How did this go? Did you get it to work. I am also interested in this type of setup. Would you mind sharing details about room size, TV, AMP, how you like the sound, etc. Thanks.

So in fact this was one of those 'doh!' moments... there are two ways for the soundbar to send a signal to the Yamaha subwoofer: wired and wireless. And wireless was enabled (the soundbar possibly got reset to this default during a recent powercut). Once I switched over to wired the line level was fine (what I had been hearing before was presumably a amplified crosstalk!)
