Hi there. Newb to IB not to bass. Commited to within 90 days having drivers, wood in the attic and having the hole cut. For starters I have the following questions to begin with more to come. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. I’m great with building high end 2 channel sound systems. Not the best with complex math...
My room is 11’ wide by 17 x 23 (27 with closet) with a closet behind it That is 90% open (repurposed bedroom) and a doorway on the back left wall that is always open because I have dogs.
Attic is a Gable roof 100 year old home that all I’ve found so far is old growth redwood. About 1900 sq. Ft. Home. Room is directly against the north wall which is the Side of the roof where you’d put a fan.
My attic
My goal is definitely unreal bass but I’m not trying to either damage my house or give up sound quality in any way. I am going for musical clarity while still being able to blast rap. Basically be the maxell guy. I want to get hit by waves hard. I also know my room is small.
My first question is about drivers, box and amplifier combinations people have liked. I would like to keep my cost below $3500 for drivers, amp, speaker cable and a days labor from a buddy at $40 an hour who’s a journeyman and he had a kid so I wanna throw him work. I’d prefer way below that but am open and know that it’s a one time install and I need to do it right.
My second question is about placement. Would it be an ok option to put them directly above my head so the wave just comes straight down pounding on me?

OK, a nights sleep, a big mug of coffee, and I'm ready to go.
For those living in the USA we recommend the Fi audio drivers, they offer the best bang for the buck.
Amps we've had good luck with the Berringer amps either analogue or digital.
Not aware of any house damage from an IB. They do tend to rattle heating ducts, can lights, etc., in close proximity.

Hey thank you so much for the response. Was originally looking at FI, Have also been considering based on recommendations acoustic elegance and Dayton recently released a new 21” subwoofer www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-pss545he-4--vortex-21-professional-subwoofer-with-5-voice-coil-4-ohm--295-052My room is 11x19x8 (1650 cu. ft.) currently been running. A pair of aura NS18-9924a 18’s. Would like to have no issue achieving 115-120db from 15-50hz. I would also prefer one manifold as building a second one in the attic just doesn’t seem like a project that would actually get completed after the first. How many 18’s would I need for this and would there be an advantage to the other drivers if ran below 50hz? thanks again

Hi
The PE speakers have limited Xmax despite being huge. Thing is speakers larger than 18" are more than a bit unweildy and prone to getting damaged as a result.
The Aurasound drivers are amazing and could be used in an IB, that said wouldn't be great if they accidently bottomed. This is why I recommended the Fi drivers. They have proven themselves to be virtually bulletproof and if damaged it's reasonably easy to get them reconed.
2-18"s 'should' be enough. If in doubt make the manifold large enought for 4 drivers but cap-off the extea holes. Audition 2 drivers, if they meet your meeds you're good to go, if not order a couple more .
