Ok, I've been dealing with some personal things as well as being busy actually building my audio / HT room (including the IB) these last months... so I haven't been totally up to date on the driver announcements and the like.
Anything new out... or any price drops? There seemed to be soo many drivers "in the works" but very little materializing? Is it still the case?
I'm more than willing to keep my chart up to date, just need a hand tracking drivers. Feel free to email me any new info with a clear subject title... it'll be passed on to the whole community.
Thanks... ROb
PS: I'll be starting a thread and web page with my room construction soon to... so you can see what I've been up to. Dual manifold with centre channel recess turned out pretty neat. I left space for 8 drivers even though I only have 6 AE IB15's... I'm really temped to add the extra 2, but don't even know if I'll find any of the original 8ohm phase plug units around.

No new announcements that I've seen. Thomas mentioned a new 18" that is on the horizon... 6-8 months out I believe but he couldn't say much, provided a few specs on it.
I'm curious about your 6 AE IB 15. I plan on using the new AE IB 15's when/if they become available. How will you be wiring those? What amp? I've been considering making my manifold to support 6 15" drivers but I was a bit confused as to how I'd wire those for a 4 ohm load with 6 8ohm drivers. My manifold is designed to support 8 drivers but I might just limit that to 6.

Hi Rob! Nothing new that anyone can buy. John J. will have new IB15" in a couple months, and more interesting stuff 6+ months away.... www.hawthorneaudio.com/ will be beta testing a new 18" shortly

Nothing new that anyone can buy. Surprising to see that it's stagnated soo long... hopefully some will start coming out the door soon. I guess I can go back to work... I was a bit confused as to how I'd wire those for a 4 ohm load with 6 8ohm drivers Three 8ohm drivers in parallel will give you 2.66ohms per stereo side or 5.33ohms in mono (ie: two 2.66 ohm loads in series) ... which is pretty close (8ohms mono would have been better IMHO) ROb

Thanks, you'd think I never took electronics in high school Then again that was many years ago! I wonder how stable 2.66 ohms would be on a typical cheaper model pro-amp like the EP1500. I suppose switching from stereo to mono and a 5.33ohm load would be the better option but with less power. Just trying to see what my options are. Adding 2 more drivers to my 4 driver IB in the future would be much more affordable than adding 4 more. That and my install may not allow for a total of 8 drivers due to space constraints beside the IB manifold. Thanks for the info.

If by "switching to mono" you mean only running one amp channel, then yes - better load but less power (about 355 watts from the EP1500). If you meant bridging the amp to mono then no - same effective load on the amp and same total power as the 2.67ohm stereo case (about 1100 watts from the EP1500).
How about this instead - divide the 6 woofers into 3 pairs. Wire each pair in parallel. Now you've got 3 loads at 4 ohms each. Wire these 3 loads in series. That makes a single 12 ohm load. Bridge the amp to mono to drive this single load. Its effectively the same as driving 2 6-ohm loads in stereo mode. The EP1500 will give you 660 watts like this.
