Hey Guys, So I have 4 Stryke IB-15's that I bought a long time ago and I am just now getting around to installling them and hooking them up. 3 of them work fine but 1 of them doesn't make any sound. It seems like it is deflecting a very small amount when given signal but it does not make sound, whereas when the other drivers are given the same signal there is obvious excursion and sound output.
If anyone has any ideas as to what the problem is, how to determine what the problem is, or how to fix it/if it can be fixed I would greatly appreciate your input.
Thanks! Dan

Run a test tone sweep and see how it compares to the others. If it's not the same contact John J.

If it's not the same contact John J. Just wanted to add that you'll have be patient and try multiple times when reaching John J ... he's apparently in the midst of setting up for production.

I'm having a tough time getting in touch with John, has anyone else been in contact with him recently?
If the driver is dead and he doesn't have another, does anyone have a spare one of these they are looking to get rid of ? this is the Lambda IB-15 8 ohm version with the large chrome phase plug.

I gave up on John months ago... can't get in touch with him for anything. His products are good but the customer service is next to nothing. As a result I'll probably never buy his products again even though I loved my AV15. This is the 3rd dealing I've had with him where he just dropped off the earth.

I've read he's shut down the business until August when new drivers are supposed to be available. His forum is off line, and there has been no communication from Deon either. My guess is that he'll surface eventually. When? That's impossible to know...

Failing immediate communication with John AE:
Isn't there anything we can advise to check out this non-functional driver?
What about checking the magnetism is similar to the others with a carefully held thin screwdriver to the backplate. In case it completely missed magnetisation?
Carefully check the connections between each chassis terminal and the fine leads going to the cone and voice coil. Could be as simple as a high resistance, dry solder joint. I can't see the backs of mine to check if the leads are soldered or just trapped under a nut.
If you need to re-solder don't have the cone exposed beneath where you are working or you could drop holt solder staight onto it! It might go straight through!
Use a multimeter to check the DC coil resistance matches the others. Multi-meters are dirt cheap these days and always useful for the car or home. Or just ask for the local TV repairman to check for you.

I like Chrisbee's suggestions. Check out all the leads etc... and let us know what you find.
