I saw them here on preorder "available 6/26". $136 for the Tempest 15" $115 for the Shiva 12" I can't remember if anyone had any comments about the Tempest or Shiva quality though. JCD

wow, that's quite a price break. Has anyone used the new Tempest drivers in an IB? The numbers look pretty decent.

JCD Both CSS and Acoustic-Visions are offering these. They are not the 'new' driver's one sees on the Adire website and no one seems to sell. Both my IB's started life with Shivas in them. And they worked fine. They were replaced with DLP12's because the preproduction saleprice was so low I couldn't refuse.... The technology for these drivers is a bit dated at this point in time. US customers should compare pricing against the PE DVC12/15, since the drivers are virtually identical

The numbers are slightly different but in terms of frequency response and performance I think they are certainly close enough to be used in the same IB. I would probably run the DVC's on one amp channel and the Tempests on another. This would keep impedence differences from sending more power to the Tempests - you can use the gain controls to even out the response.
But since creative sound is offering the classic Tempest, I don't see why you wouldn't just a pair of those to complement the classic Tempests you've already got.

I am using a mix of classic Tempests and PE DVC 15" and they work quite well, so I would not be afraid to use that mix
