They had some info on them over at acoustic visions, but they seem to be gone now.

I'm not sure the parameters in that link are accurate as Kevin at DIY Audio said the development took a lot longer than expected but has otherwise exceded his expectations. The price now is less than what was in your link, too. The displacement per dollar is pretty good, and the Fs isn't bad at about 18 Hz. There have been better numbers before, but these are pretty good considering what is available now.

I remember seeing this link about a year ago. Like you said some things could of changed some alot, you never know nowadays.

Kevin just wrote on the above link that he won't warrantee the woofers if people use them in an IB without a high pass filter . He basically said if one is going to haphazardly push them to their limmits without any means of protection then they do so at their own risk. Have any other manufacturers withheld their warrantee like this before?

All mfgrs warranties exclude abuse. If they're overdriven by very low frequencies they've been abused. So he's just being up front about it.
This is just one of the reasons we recommend having TONS of displacement, and high pass filters...

Would steeply cutting the ULFs with the BFD work as a high pass filter? For my system, two Avalance 18's driven with 350 watts appiece in a 3,000 cubic feet room, where would you set a high pass filter? 15Hz? 12Hz? Leave it alone as the amp doesn't perform below 10Hz? I tend to listen to movies at about 90-100 dBs. I thought I'd ask since a high pass filter isn't discussed all that much. I don't think I'll blow the drivers, but you never know with the crazy ULF content newer DVDs have. Realistically two 18's don't cost that much, but I'd hate to lose the Avalanches since they are such nice drivers.

It might work okay if the BFD could do cuts at low enough frequencies. But you can only set center freqs down to 20Hz. That's probably higher than you'd want to center the cut.
A quick sim says Xmax occurs at about 15Hz with 350 watts each. I'd set the Fc somewhere around 15-16Hz since the response will already be down a few dB at Fc with a typical hi-pass.
