What size room do you have your IB feeding? It seems like many are in the 2,500-3,500 cubic foot range (with an 8' ceiling, that would be a square of between 17.7' to 20.9').
I ask because my house design -- the house is as much in fantasy mode as the IB subs... -- includes a main listening space of 10,368 cubic feet. That's a rectangular room 24' wide by 36' deep, with a 12' high flat ceiling. Think "loft." I suspect getting a clean 112dB will take more than a pair of 15" drivers, perhaps more than four.

I have 3,200 cubic feet open to the rest of the house on the back wall. My listening position is 15' from my 4 way 15" IB and I can measure 120db if I'm in the mood for ear damage. 112db is easily achieved and if I had more amp power I could really do some damage but it isn't necessary.

My room is approx. 14.5' x 25' x 8' = 2900 cubic feet. I've had my drivers for quite some time, but have been able to build the manifold and get it up and running yet.

16' w x 22' L Including platform, I should have around 2500cuft for my 4x18" woofers to pressurize. I really hope the 4x18"s pressurize the room or I am going to lose it.

My room is 16' x 20' x 9' (3,000 cubic feet) and has a 3' x 7' opening to the rest of the house. I have two high excursion 18" subwoofers with a theoretical combined 13 liters of displacement and each sub is driven by 350 watts. The sound is clean and impressive. I'll EQ after I finish the passive acoustic treatments... once that's done it should sound amazing.

It's as much the distance from the IB to the listening position as it is the actual size of the room. That is unless the goal is to have the same SPL in every square inch of the space.

Ill be moving about 10 liters of air at full excursion. Is there an equation out there to determine pressurization from liters swept vs cubic foot size?

Also the variation of room construction from one place to another. The goal really isn't to 'pressurize' the space, it's to have good quality bass with adequate output. If you look at the various subs in the gallery, and the rooms they're in, that is a good basis for comparison. There is no such thing as too much displacement. Since the greater the displacement the lower the distortion. If there isn't enough displacement the drivers bottom or are driven to high levels of distortion.

Sd (in mm) x double Xmax (edit to add 'double'...meant p~p, but double Xmax is much clearer) A quick tip for Sd conversion from cm to mm is to just add a '.0' in front of the Sd number for drivers up to 15"; for 18's just place a decimal in front of the Sd.

Mine is 6.4 x 4.5 x 3.4mtr. (21' x 15' x 11' = 3500ft3) Two Avalanche 18's with 230wpc in floor seem very adequate to rock the foundations, split boards, crack walls and pop nails Oh and produce musical pictures too ;D

1600 with 4 18's, nice real nice. mines aprox 2300 with 4 15 Atlases.

Jesse -- I've got you 'out Vd'd' with my IB. You have 26.136 liters of Vd; I have 30.544. But if your room comes in right at 1600 cu. ft. as you say, then you have 61.2 cu.ft for each liter of displacement. My room will be 1912 cu.ft....which gives me 62.6 cu.ft. for each liter of displacement. You got me.

Hi all, long time no post here. Anyway my 15X19.33X9.3 with a 12X12X1 tray in the middle, along with an attached 5X12X9.3 computer niche comes to about 3440 ft cubed. I have a wimpy 2, 15" atlas IB powered by a 1500 Behringer EP1500. I just got it going a few days back. I am somewhat pleased with it but I'm already starting to want more. Cheers
