As they say "membership has it's privileges". I hope AMEX has a sense of humor about someone borrowing their motto... Don't know about you, but I find communications via a keyboard painfully slow, and really inefficient. A work-around for this is...yep you guessed it.... the telephone! And to that end we now announce our, ...err...drum-roll please! IB Subwoofer planning and design 'Concierge Service'..... ;D So how's it work? Pretty simple really....after reading ALL the forum's FAQ, and plan/design/build pages, you start a thread on this forum about your project. You upload floor-plans, and pictures of the room, then post info about your budget, performance expectations, proposed location, etc, into that thread. Once all your information is posted, via email you request a 'chat' with me. I'll look over the thread to ensure all the necessary data is there, if it is we'll decide on a day and time for the chat. You provide a phone number, I'll call you on that day at the scheduled time You'll have up to 2 hrs of one-to-one talk time with me. If you live in the continental USA, this is a free service. Those living outside the continental USA can use this service, but must pay for the call... sorry there is a limit to my generosity..... EDIT: People started abusing this offer, using it to avoid posting on the forum. For this reason the offer is now changed. If someone's project has become overly complicated and they're having difficulty understanding the solutions being posted in their thread, I"ll speak to them directly

This is great! ;DI wish this had been started a few years ago. It would have saved me a lot of time. Chuck

My first post.
What a great idea! Especially as I'm just about to start such a thread after months of reading and lurking.

Well beyond the call of duty, Thomas! You just failed the curmudgeon test. With distinction! ;D

WOW! I am taken aback at the benevolence of what you are doing. I think of the "do unto you before you do unto me" mentality that surrounds me here in So. Cal. and then this. What a stark contrast. You will be repaid multi-fold. Thank you, Harold

I think it's called "paying it forward".......or perhaps in this instance 'being lazy', since info can be dispensed so much more expediently via phone...

Yeah, this is really neat. I've started a thread before, but the plans have changed. This is really helpful. Even having ThomasW available on this forum is a huge help. Thanks for all you do.

Hi! So is is there a list of people who can maybe be contracted with to help build this out if I am not the handy type? I was considering doing an IB setup in my media room with the woofers mounted in the floor open to a crawlspace below, but... definitely not doing that kind of work myself.

Nope sorry no list.
Thing is, the construction of a manifold itself is reasonably simple. Most wood workers can bang one out in a day. The complex part is the install
Do you have any friends or neighbors with shop skills or know a good handyman? Those are probably your best options

Those are probably your best options Sadly not, plus if we integrated it into the floor, we would want it to look pretty nice. Maybe have to find a professional audio guy nearby.

Pro audio people are $pendy and not necessary. Ask neighbor/friends who they use for handyman projects. There are some nice cast metal floor grills, so things can look spiffy.

Thomas, very nice!
As Elon Musk elucidated; "We're all collectively programming the A.I., however the interface via our fingers is a dreadfully inadequate choke-point".
Although I've supported The Cult via several hundred submissions, I never generated a legit build thread on my IB, as I didn't capture build images of it properly.
The Cult is a unique resource, we're all better for it. Your generosity is appreciated. A couple hours of one on one would be extraordinarily helpful to those in need.
Great idea.
