Hi All
A local enthusiast and speaker builder has offered me some new purpose built IB drivers for my next IB installation. These are 12" prototypes at the moment although there may be 15" and 18" in the family to follow, depending on a number of success factors I guess
He has produced a report for the drivers and response. Excerpts are as follows:
Fo = 27 Qts = 0.58 Qes =0.66 Qms = 5.0 Xmax = 18mm Mms = 125g Mmd = 120g Znom = 8ohms Revc = 6 ohms SPLo = 86dB one driver, 89dBSPL for 2 drivers in parallel Vas = 85ltr Pmax = 600w Recommended power 150w/speaker Anything else you would need to know?
Is this driver likely going to be any good for IB? How might it rate with other 12" drivers used in IB by members? Should I be concerned at the relatively high Fo? (my Avalanche 18 have Fs of 16Hz I recall)

I'm not sure what makes these purpose built drivers for an IB?
The high Fs means more EQ will be needed to boost the lowest frequencies.
If they're low buck then they're probably a good deal.

Mmm his words not mine. Modelled up by the guy who was responsible for the Whise Profunder box subs. Haven't met him personally but supposed to be a very smart chap I am now a little more suspicious myself - what 12" models on the Cult list would likely be better than this one? so I can compare bang for buck before I pull the trigger. If I am going to the trouble of cutting holes and building manifold, iI may as well put decent drivers in I'm thinking. Thanks for the reply Thomas
