In the US the A500 is the same price as the BASH amp from CSS.

For eq'ing most use the Behringher Feedback Destroyer. It has lots of adjustable frequency, narrow to wide band filters that can be used to effectively EQ pretty much anything.
IB's need equalization to achive their best sound. The frequency response of any sub is affected by the individual room because of room gain.
(modify) oops had an extra word in there

If you're considering that 300W bash or the 500W bash amps then visit www.partsexpress.com since they've got them on sale right now. Part no 300-750 is the 300W bash for $105 US and free shipping Part no 300-752 is the 500W bash for $159 US and free shipping At the regular prices I'd probably pass on these plate amps in favor of a rack amp. But at these prices I think they're the best deals going in this power range. Plus they don't run fans - silent operation. Not that the "rumble filter" in the 500W amp is not going to work very well for an IB sub. So read up on the "spec sheet and boost tables" to see how to modify this filter. If this makes you nervous just stick with the 300W bash - it should be plenty of power for a pair of Mach 5 18's. Get the 8 ohm version of the Mach 5's and you can run a pair in parallel to get a 4 ohm load on the plate amp. This amp (like most plate amps) works best with a 4 ohm load.

I see there are 2 Behringher Feedback Destroyers. One is the Behringer DSP1124P and the other is the Behringer FBQ2496 Feedback Destroyer. Which is the proper unit?

connecting the Pre-out to Pre-in Sorry I meant Pre-out Pwr-in. So you do have these, good. You can use the Behringer DCX2496 to crossover your sub and do all the EQ. Set your Marantz to no sub & LCR Large, pull the Left, Center & Right jumpers and use the Pre-out LCR to the DCX2496. LCR High out from the DCX2496 back to the Pwr-in then use one of the low outs to combine all 3 for your sub. The DCX2496 can also do the EQ, Phase & Delay for the IB.

I got a great deal on a Behringer DSP 1124P and I'm not quite ready for it in our HT system but I would like to give it a test... do you think I could run it full-range through my home stereo to get an idea if it works? Brian

It's not an optimal choice for fullrange EQ, it's sonic signature is a bit ddddddddigital...
