I set up an IB sub last week...which consists of 2 tempests..powered by a crest 2600 am at 750 per side...and I cannot beleive I did not do this sooner.... this thing sounds awesome...to make a long story short....Thomas pointed out to that I have to be very careful not to over exert these subs..and they would probably take around 150 watts before they blow....and I should add two more... I was looking at the Mach 5's... and thinking of ordering 4...and sell my Tempests... My question is....what is better...4 Mach's or 4 Tempests? The vas & X-max on the Tempests is way more than the Machs...will I be ahead with the Machs or just order 2 more Tempests?I realise the Machs cost half as much....so my cost will be the same..4 machs= around 300..2 Tempests= 320...
Thanks guys...

I'd go with 4 MJ-18s if I was in that situation. Better power handling, more displacement. Sell the Tempest drivers and put the money towards the purchase of the MJs.

More displacement? No, the Tempest actually displaces more air than the MJ18:
Tempest Sd=779cm^2 Xmax=16.4mm 2-way-displacement=2.56L MJ18 SD=1029.2cm^2 Xmax=12mm 2-way-displacement=2.47L
I agree with Thomas - buy 2 more Tempests.

Also note that the Tempest has more power handling than the MJ18 (750 watts vs 600 watts). But its kinda silly to even worry about that in an IB.

Get two more tempests, you wont need to recut the holes in your baffle. You have tons of power, that is not an issue.

779x2= 1558 cm2=.6 cubic ft...
Do I need a manifold with a .6 cubic foot opening?

You have already seen it...although not here... I want to add 2 more..so I will be needing a manifold cause they won't fit in this manner.

Ok...
Since you already have the wall cutout, make a box that fits the opening with the sides deep enough that one driver can be mounted on each end.
