I.e. what if it is mounted into the external wall and vents outside? Would that work?

Hi,
Yes outside venting works, provided the neighbors don't live close by.
There are 1/2 dozen or so examples of outside vented IB's in various threads on the forum.

stasulos, Venting outside, for me is the ultimate infinite baffle, though I doubt that it yields any improvement over any of the other arrangements used. I had nowhere else to go, and no human neighbours within cooee. Not sure I would have tried it though, if I did. Low frequency energy can travel amazing distances under the right atmospheric conditions, as rickp will find out I reckon it would be fairly difficult to locate the exact source of it though Other builds that come to mind are ken's and Nordo's, although I am sure there are others. Probably best to skip mine, unless you have a week to spare Cheers, Jim.

So, Jim, would your answer imply that an outdoor vented IB install is not well suited for trailer parks? They're gonna hate me either way for the time I'm here... I'm kinda feeling a "Go big or go home" moment on my own install, and the outdoor/indoor IB install sure would look cleaner! I could do front and rear, straight off the bat. As the plan I have is, the front 3000 cu/ft of house will get sealed from the back, and I'll mount two 18s high on the wall in a manifold- vaulted ceiling. Eye candy for me, but that's about it. I am doubting the walls, floor, and ceiling, are going to soften the blow much, for the neighbors. Hopefully, a single pair driven off an EP1500 will keep everyone happy, including me. Doubting it, but our weather isn't conducive to building an outdoor theater, to have all the neighbors over.

Not sure why you posted in a 5yr old thread.
How about starting a new thread with the specifics of your proposed install
