I realize this is a very low end question for this forum but anyway. I am building an IB sub to go in a crawl space on an addition. I'd prefer not to use a panel mounted amp because that will mean I need an outlet down there, and because I am not sure how damp and nasty it will be down there.
It is just to use with an off the shelf 5+1 home theater receiver. The sub that came with the system had a powered sub so there is no amplified output on the receiver. The amp, receiver etc. will be in a cabinet with limited ventilation, so they can make a little noise (not a lot) and can't generate too much heat. Doesn't need a heck of a lot of power, just something entry level that will sound OK with a little two driver sub.

People who have tried using receivers to drive any kind of subs have been disappointed since they lack adequate power.
BTW how about posting all your questions in one location? It gets confusing jumping around different forums. And that's why there's a 'My Projects' section where people can ask about anything related to a build
