I think I already know the answer to this..
I have a HT area in my basement that's finished. Next to it I have an unfinished area. The HT area has a drop ceiling - the unfinished area has nothing.
The floor joists (above) run between the unfinished and finished areas. So there are essentially large gaps in the ceiling space between the two areas.
I'm sure that the drop ceiling doesn't provide enough isolation... Any thoughts on the best way to resolve the issue? I know that it doesn't need to be airtight - but I think that's quite a large area created by the joists.
Install block/panels of some kind in the ceiling between the finished and unfinished area to keep the air space entirely separate?
