Hello all I'm building a HT room in my basement and was thinking about an IB sub set up to avoid boxes.I'm not looking to shake the house apart just to bring up the bottom end a little. have 3 10" 12 ohm subs wanting to wall mount, planning on running a 300watt Bash amp on them. They will be backing up 8" in walls and 4" mtm up front and 6.5" ceiling speaker rear.the system will be used more for music and a video game system,HT use once in a while. The room is 12'x17' bottom half drywall finish top half carpeted to deaden the room my wall cavities will vent into the drop ceiling area only going up 8' on drywall with a 9' deep basement then going 7' on the drop ceiling. Here are the sub specs: 10"12ohm Nuance woofers Qtc 1.39 Qms 6.79 Qes 1.75 Le 1.77mH Vas 2.56 cu.ft. Fs 34hz Xmax 9mm. I think the xmax figure is wrong I had these in a car set up and they didn't seem like the moved that much and they had plent of power to them. Anyway that's my plan.Am I wasting my time with these 10's? Thanks all!

In IB terms, two of these 10" drivers will give you the equivalent of open back earphones.
An IB relies on having a large reserve of driver cone displacement so that the cones never need to move far enough to bottom out.
We would hesitate to recommend using four 15" drivers with only 9mm Xmax. The displacement is just not enough to be safe.
Your drivers would be much safer in a ported or sealed box. As an IB they will destroy themselves on the first bit of bass to come their way.
