I currently have a eD a7s-650 (dual 13" sealed) and want something with a bit more output. I love the idea of a stealth installation like IB and think I want to go this route as long as the SPL would avg roughly 123db+. My room is 3700+/- cu ft so I'm thinking one manifold with 4 18" Fi (soon to be blueprints) driven off an EP4000. My concern is that the location is roughly 14ft left of my front. I can keep my 13" eD drivers and stack my 4pi's on top of them if this would help smooth the response and help make the bass non directional. My back wave laundry room is roughly 950 cu ft. My stud placement in basement is 24" off center (will this cause too much drywall flex given the larger expanse of bracing?) The attached file is a rough sketch of the room layout. Thanks, Eric Attachments:

You have the power in your own hands to move all your subs to the intended IB position. (temporarily) Just to prove that it probably wont work.
Keeping other subs with an IB system will usually spoil the SQ and leave your present subs (probably) struggling for output to match the IB.
The obvious question is why you aren't facing the laundry room already?

This location currently provides me with the 2nd best avg spl output in the room just 2db down from the nearfield corner. It has better output than the front right by .5 db and better than front left by 5db (big null here). All of these measurements were done with sub at seating position and with meter at given location. My biggest concern is whether I could locate the <80hz signal for 100% home theater use.
I would use that location but there's a door into the laundry room in the middle of that wall.

I want to go this route as long as the SPL would avg roughly 123db+. If this is a real desire you probably want to go with horn loaded subs, or increase your IB driver count to 8-18"s

I would use that location but there's a door into the laundry room in the middle of that wall. You could bring the screen forwards off the laundry room wall. Enough to give easy access to the laundry room. Your room still remains 27' long for acoustic purposes. My feeling is that a 14' offset would locate the bass source all too readily. You'd also get cancellations with the very distant speakers. As I said. You can easily test any potential room/IB arrangements with your existing subs.

I would be interested in horn's but the footprint and low frequency drop off is a concern of mine. hmmmm

120db from 16hz and up is a reasonable guesstimate.
It depends on where you sit, how far you are from the drivers, how close you sit to the walls.
My theater has four 18's, is 12x18x7 and I can hit 120 easily in the front row. In the rear row near the back wall its another 6db louder.
I don't like the idea of keeping the old subs if SQ is important. You just "smear" the clean IB sound with those vented pigs. The distance and off center location is going to be a big problem. Even if you can't localize below 80hz, you can still sense the pressure source being on one side.
I would suggest turning your layout and trying the existing subs on the laundry wall. Adjust the seating distance and see if the response is good. Adding bass traps will greatly reduce the room interaction and is still just as valuable with an IB - just because IB is the "best" doesn't mean you can skip the room treatments.

Just throwing this out there, but we have a similar issue with out room in that there's a passageway.. a motorized drop-down, tensioned screen was the answer. Elite screens did a 128" 2.35:1 screen for just under $1k shipped.
