So since everyone seems to be out of IB drivers at the moment, what is the general consensus on the DIYCable's Tempest X2a 15"? I was all ready to go on a quad Fi 18" manifold until I learned they will be out of commission for an IB amount of time

Looking at about 4 bills more for the 15's X2a's...Worth it, or should I wait for the Fi's? Modeling looks good, but is it 400 good?

I buy subwoofer drivers as a long term investment. This means whom ever I buy them from must have the ability to rebuild/recone the drivers should the need arise.

I don't know whether Kevin at DIY cable rebuilds his drivers.

AE and Fi offer reconing services. Usually it's about 1/2 the purchase price to have drivers reconed.

Thanks Thomas. I'll wait and see what's up this summer I guess. Kevin is in a re-design phase right now as well...I'm assuming the new Mal-X will coincide with his TX2a's redesign. $1200 for four drivers vs. Fi's $800 shipped. Almost a no brainer.

<Sigh> Funny thing is I got the cash and motivation now. Mid July I might not! :-/

Till then I'll enjoy the heck out of my ported IXL 18.2.2.
