phase adjustment?

I was just wondering that normally the box subwoofers have phase adjustment. How does one manage that in an IB? Is it through the EQ, or does the receiver do it?

In the case of a Receiver based system, using the subwoofer distance setting, will accomplish the phase/time alignment task.
