New to Home IB

Ran across a thread the other day mentioning the IB website and had to check it out. I installed and built many car systems but never considered IB for home. With that said.

I have been tasked with getting rid of our current sub which is a Mirage 15" 300W. Great bass but lots of floor space. I have a vaulted ceiling living room that is approx 17x14. I think that an IB setup would be great and I have total WAF.

Reading the recommended equip I was considering four AE 15's in the vault above the TV. Now I am trying to get pricing together for everything.

AE-15's - $400 (hope this is still correct)
NADY XA1100 - $280-300
I have all of the mdf/osb/wire so that's "free"

What else do I need?

Current others: Sony STRDH810, Infinity Primus P150's with matching center channel, Sammy 58" Plasma

I will be moving the front P150's to the sides and putting P363's in the front and a PC351 center

Not sure if there are any good Nady amps around. No one has asked about them in years. Most are now using the Behringer EP 2500/4000

Suggest you go with Fi IB3-18"s. JohnJ of AE is having Group buys of specialty high end (very low distortion) drivers, so getting standard subs from him will be problematic.

You'll want some form of EQ. The Behringer BFD is most often used

The more I have looked after I posted the more the Behringer amp made sense. The Fi 18's should be fine. Do you think that I can get by with two or will I need four?

I searched for Behringer BFD and found Behringer FBQ1502. Will this work?

I recently stumbled across this site and spend several hours reading through many of these great posts. I'm now planning to build a manifold in my crawlspace exiting at the front next to my main speakers.

Is FI = www.ficaraudio.com?

Is their recommended driver the 18 inch IB3-series?

I recall a couple posts about a discount if purchasing 4 drivers and another about a "special" fi-18 forum (on the ficaraudio website I assume).

You really want a parametric EQ not a graphic unit.

If you plan to try run with only 2 drivers, you should be ok as long as you run 18's. Its always easy to add another pair down the line though if you feel you dont have enough output.
