Hello everyone- I have been planning this IB ever since I had the blue prints drawn for our new home. We are finally in and it's time to begin. A little history on my experience with this stuff. I am pretty much a rookie and will probably need some help along the way. The first sub I built was a ported sonotube using the 12" Shiva X. Next up was a Cinema F-20 horn sub. That F-20 is pretty impressive! My wife, of course, hated the sonotube and the F-20 and nixed me using either in our new home. So, the logical answer was IB! 8x the drivers and no real estate taken up in the room. All I will have to do is figure out a way to make a nice looking 6' grill to cover the hole in the wall. Here is a link to the subs: sg.jbl.com/product-detail-new-jbl-sg/gto1514d.html I figured 8 of these may get close to 4 of the famous FI 18's at much less cost. I hope I was right?? Power will be from one side of an Inuke 6000 Dsp. Should put them at around 250 watts each. Here are some pictures of the progress. Please chime in with advice, criticisms, or whatever as I am here to learn!

Hi, I saw your thread on AVS. Was going to post there but you saved me the trouble. Nice job looks very good ..... I recommend placing full depth horizontal shelf braces in the cabinet. Minimum would be one in the middle, better would be one between each pair of drivers. That's a tall structure and you don't want the sides of the manifold to vibrate.

Thank you, I will be sure to add that bracing. I should probably just make 3 of them so that it looks symetrical when the grill is removed.
The back side is my storage room. I do have two 12x12 openings on the opposite side of the room for venting of the water heater. It is required by code to have them. That means the room is not totally sealed off from the room the manifold is firing into. Will this hurt the output of the sub? If so, I was thinking of making some solid, temporary covers that I could put up when I need it to better seal it off??

Good deal. I put the back on the manifold last night and got the subs wired. Tonight I hope to get the inuke hooked up so I can test the subs! Can't wait to see what they can do!

I did get them hooked up. I wanted to make sure everything worked so I haven't adjusted anything other than the LP on the Inuke I set to 80hz. I just did a quick test with Transformers on DVD. I don't have any blurays because we just rent them. I understand what the hype is about! Without measuring or properly dialing these in it absolutely blows my mind how it can sound so good and have so much impact. The point was to hook it up, make sure the drivers all worked and that I had it wired right, and then properly tuck everything away nice and neat then start measuring and tinkering. I have done none of that! I can't stop listening to it as it is. One thing I noticed right off the bat with Transformers is that the scenes that used to be my go-to scenes when showing off my small ported sub or the cinema f-20 really weren't that special. Just watching the last 30 minutes of action I noticed so many different scenes with way more impact that was never present on my previous subs. Once I get this measured and dialed in better I will give a more detailed review of it but I just can't get over the "impact" that these have without being overpowering. It is wierd to feel the back of your seat moving like someone is behind you pushing on it without being boomy. Wow! I am just amazed right now.

I use 8 JBL gto1514 my self, and they are great buy in EU, where 18" high Xmax are to come by and to pay for. One side: Build is from 2009, time flyes!
