Hey, folks, new here, first post.
I'll start by stating I know very little about IB installs. Coming from what I've known for many years about DIY speakers and subwoofers, the whole IB thing kinda "baffles" my mind
I've been reading quite a bit on various forums and blogs in the past couple of weeks and have decided I want to give this a go. Here's where the descriptions and questions begin.
I've got 4 SI HT18s, these are what I will be using.
A bunch of pro amps, and most likely will use 1 or 2 Crown ComTech 1610s.
I'm currently renting the house I'm in, so I can't go cutting up floors/walls/ceilings. However, what I can do is use a closet in my theater room and modify the door opening in a way that will be very easily returned to normal operation when I decide to move. I've already confirmed that subs in that corner of the room is a good location for response at the seating area.
Now, the questions are... the closet isn't huge, it measures roughly 72-73 cubic feet. It's a funky shape as it is under the stairs leading to the basement where my theater is. I'd also want to do a manifold to combat some of the vibrations caused by the woofers, so that space would shrink a bit, unless I do an "outie".
1. Is 70 cubic feet enough space for 4 SI HT18s?
2. Is sheet rock over 2x4 framing sufficient behind the drivers?
3. With an opposing manifold, will everything rattle like crazy?
4. Dual opposing, or 4 sided with a woofer on each of the 4 sides?
5. Can the woofers be mounted facing into the manifold, or would that reveal too much motor and suspension noise in the listening space?
6. How much space between opposing drivers...how wide does the manifold need to be between the opposing drivers?
Thanks in advance for any help and guidqnce.
