I built an IBM with 4 18" fi drivers at the front of my room. It's been going strong for several years but I've always had a null at my front row seating. The room is 15x28 and the front row seating is 14' or basically center of the room. I have 4 seats on a raised floor and a second row that's raised more. The second row has great bass and basically it shakes the rest of the house apart. I've considered a couple of box subs at the rear of the room but I'm afraid they will muddy the ib. Anyone have a solution to this?

Hi,
I'd put a mic/SPL meter in the seat with the null so you can figure out the specific frequency of the null.
Is the room such that there's space to put bass traps in the corners of the room?

I have Rockwood covered with speaker cloth across all 4 corners. I also have it across the ceiling/wall corner front to back. I have several panels on both side walls also.

What are the dimensions of the corner traps?

They are 36"wide and straddle all 4 corners. The side walls and ceiling corners are also 36" and straddle the ceiling wall corners front of room to the back and then I have one about 12' long across the back wall and ceiling.

OK, all I can think to do is a mike measurement taken from the problematic seat so you'll know the specific frequencies needing to be fixed..

Curious ... how did this turn out? What did you encounter?
