I've read on this forum about the Dayton 15" IB drivers and haven't found what I'm looking for yet. I heard the build quality isn't that great, but the specs look really good for an IB.
- Any thoughts on this driver? - I can't find the AE 15" IB anywhere, are there better ones on the market right now? - What is the sound quality that these drivers produce?

From another thread: The QMS on these subs is 12.08, and after comparing a few other more expensive ones this seems high. So what happens if I have multiple drivers, say 8 of these, that are using maybe 40w/ea? Do the cheaper drivers start sounding bad at high SPL? Would these drivers have good quality of sound since each individual driver wouldn't be pushed very hard? Or should I think of it this way: If I have a group of bad singers in a chorus, they will still sound bad no matter how loud they sing? hahahah

Using multiple drivers doesn't change the Qms, this is a fixed T/S parameter.
I was hesitent to bring up the dialog about ultimate drivers since these things tend to make people neurotic, and it's unclear how audible the effects of non-linearity is in subwoofers.
None of the drivers we recommend are "poor". And there's a big cost differential between drivers like the AE or PE IB-15"s and drivers that have 'better' raw parameters.
So my recommendation has to be buy the best driver you can afford, and be happy given the sound quality of your IB sub.

I should have known better than to beg the question Thomas, but in all honesty, I was expecting the answer to be some stupidly high priced...only if we won the lottery type driver. You know, like that thing that looks like a fan for $12K

We aim to please.... If you look at the parameters for the new big Tumults, those look very good and they are pretty $pendy...

Those are nice...but definitely out of reach for the time being...oh well. I don't have any complaints with my AV18's, they're pretty goo...I guess
