Just about to dive in and make the buy. I have a source for all three speaker choices
Is one of these a 'better' choice for an IB than the others ?
Seeing that Vas is the main difference between the two AV15s, do I really care about Vas in an IB anyway, given that I can get the non MKIIs for 50% less $ ?
(4 Speakers in a manifold in the ceiling of a basement theater room of 2500 cu ft with back wave ported to the room above, btw, with a 1200 watt JBL amp)
TIA

IB15 vs the 'new' AV15. One has double the Xmax of the other, and costs $80 more.
If you have the money and need the headroom the AV15's are going to play a lot louder.
I wouldn't buy the discontinued original AV15 since there were issues with reliability

Gees this was long time ago. There were issues with a production run from TC-Sounds. Lots of hard feelings. This is the reason why John is now hand building the current AV15"s.
TC-Sounds used a website (Audiohole.com) to sell off the problematic drivers John refused to except. Without permission TC-Sounds sold them as Stryke AV15".

You'd have to check the Home Theatre Forum archives for those threads... if i recall this was with the first batch of the first edition (they are selling the third edition now). I have one from the second batch of the first edition (also built by TC-sounds) driven with a 700W pro amp for quite some time, and it's been trouble free. ROb

I have a source for all three speaker choices Hi 10gauge, You say you have a source for the MKI AV15's...if you choose to not use them, could you PM me with more info about your lead? I PM'd you about two weeks regarding this, but I believe you have to enable PM'ing on this board to be able to receive. I know I hadn't done it yet either.
