Hi, I can get four of these drivers for a good price: www.monacor.dk/produkter/hoejttalerenheder-hifi10-12/vnr/101130/But I am not sure they are suited for an infinite baffle system. What do you say? The Xmax is not specified but it looks like it is not that bad. The room they should be used in is about 33 square meters (355 square feet) but the volume is about 120 cubic meters (4 237 cubic feet). Best regards, Kim

The specs say ?5mm for the Xmax and it looks like that's about all the excursion that woofer could provide. In addition the Qts is way to low.
So nope not a viable option for IB use.

Ok, thank you. It was too good to be true. I will look for some of the drivers in the driver comparison charts but they are not that easy to get in Denmark. If I buy something from USA I will have to pay duty and taxes and then it will become very expensive.

A couple people have imported the AE-IB15's.
Check with Cult member Chrisbee, he's in Denmark and recently bought 4 of the above mentioned drivers

Kim I searched for months for suitable IB drivers in Denmark. The only drivers worth trying and easily available in Denmark are 15" Cerwin Vega VMax-15 from THansen the car spares dealer chain. Thansen has regular discounts on these drivers which make them better value. At full price 1600DKK I think they are rather expensive. www.thansen.dk/product.asp?c=1646724992&n=1589688117&pn=1634616902The Acoustic Elegance IB15s are very good value indeed and a set of four will make a very serious IB subwoofer using a Behringer EP2500 amplifier. This amp sells for a little over 3000DKK in Denmark if you shop around. You must add freight charges from the USA to the purchase price of the AE drivers then add Moms (VAT) to the total price including freight. Fortunately the US Dollar:Kroner exchange rate is strongly in your favour helping to balance out the freight, taxes and import charges. I consider the AE IB15 a much better driver than the Cerwin Vega for IB use. The AE IB15 just oozes quality. Have a look at my signature blog for more details. Email Acoustic Elegance for freight options and charges. Sets of four are better value than buying singly or in pairs. Four is a safe option for IB use. Eight would be even more fun. www.aespeakers.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=536

Hi Chrisbee!
It is nice with such good advice. I think I will order four of the Acoustic Elegance IB15s. Do you have an idea about what they will cost me (what did they cost you)?
My goal is not to obtain maximum bass pressure but to obtain very good high accuracy deep bass. I will arrange them in two pairs above my built in front speakers. The plan is to cross over at about 100Hz. Do you still think the IB15s are the way to go?
My built in speakers only have two 5" bas/midrange woofers (Seas er15rly) and a Seas 27TDFC tweeter so I can't go any lower than 100Hz if I still want to be able to play at a fairly high SPL sometimes.

Chrisbee:
I forgot to ask you where you live in Denmark? (In case you were willing to demonstrate your system).
I live in Aalborg.

The IB15s can probably cope with a 100Hz crossover point but your speakers may struggle to match the output of an IB.
There is no reason why you can't carefully match the output between the speakers and subwoofer. However, if the speaker maximum output is very low then the IB can't play loud enough to sound as powerful and exciting as it easily can be.
Bass is very dependent on loudness for the human ear to hear clearly and fully appreciate.
4 x IB15s can be as loud, clear and deep as you could ever wish for.
I believe the price for a set of four is still $400US. That's only 2050DKK at today's exchange rate.
Of course you have to add freight and Danish taxes to that basic price. Email Acoustic Elegance for exact prices and freight charges via Schenker/Bax.
