In comparing the Tempest-X and the DPL-15, I would say the DPL-15 is the better of the two for IB use. The Tempest-X should do nearly as well in an IB (and have much greater displacement), but would also do very well in small sealed and ported enclosures. On the other hand, the DPL-15 would be better suited with an open baffle arrangement if an IB enclosure wasn't an option. So... the way I see it, it all depends on whether you have room for more drivers and how you think you might use the drivers if an IB is no longer an option.

I've done a fair bit of reading on IBs, and I'm pretty keen on building one. IBs sound like a great sub that can satisfy listeners of quality music as well as satisfy the most ardent movie lover (me).
The other thing I like, as I said earlier, is that the hole in the floor/ceiling and the manifold, etc aren't locked into just one driver. So long as the driver is suitable for an IB system, your OK.
